The first literary week celebration of the Bethel American International School began on Tuesday 28th February, 2017 and ended on 2nd March, 2017.

Some of the highlights on the first day included a talent exhibition session of students with their musical instruments, recitations of Bible passages in French and poems, learning on the lives of selected authors, a history digging time of interview with the school’s executive director, Mr. Wole Aderinkomi, also a challenging contest of spelling bee (Junior Category) that engaged representatives of the four(4) school houses – Grace, Joy, Peace and Patience.

The fascinating session of cultural display of the Nigerian major tribes by students rounded – off the day’s activities.

On the second day of the event were many intrigues that heightened the interest of participants. There was a powerful talk session by a volunteer parent of one of the students, Mrs O . Agboola.

She gave greatly educative talk on “ATTITUDES”.

Another highlight of the day was an inspirational interview with Elder Michael Aderinkomi, the school proprietor. He shared on his humble background and the journey of his success in life so far as well as school. Equally, Mr Jerry, a visiting partner from United States of America (USA) also granted an interview. Other events of the day include poem recitation, book review, drama and talent display by the students.

The Literary week celebration came to a climax on Thursday, 2nd March, 2017. The events of the day include the spelling Bee challenge of the senior category, poem recitation, an inspirational talk by Ruth Okoli, a 19 year old, 300level student of the University of Lagos.

The debate was another high point of the event. Six schools engaged in a fierce discourse on the topic.

“ The adoption of the English language as the lingua Franca in Nigeria has done more harm than good to our society” .

The challenging and rigorous argument saw Bethel American International School (BAIS) emerging as the 1st position, with the highest score.

The event was broadcasted live on Diamond 101.1 FM, Ibadan.

It was an ecstatic moment as the guest speaker of the day, Hafiz Oyetoro, popularly known as “SAKA” was giving the mic to give his autobiography, he narrated his experience from the bitter to the disappointing, to the fascinating, which he said made him who he is.

Many thanks for the support of the guests and every factor that made the event a success. Appreciation goes to MR. Ropo Ewenla of Diamond FM, Ibadan, who volunteered as the MC on the grand finale of the event, all parents who gave their support, as well as the organizations that partnered with the school; which are Sumal foods, NTA Ibadan and Diamond FM , Ibadan.

For the school we believe God, that this is only a step towards greater heights. It can only get better.

We give all glory to God!
